About him
I am 68 yrs old and I live in Crowborough in East Sussex. I have been a widower for the last 3.5 years. In fact, my son-in-law and I both became widowers within less than a month when my daughter passed away in Nov 20 and then my wife (her mum) in Dec 20. A very trying time for us at that time of year. I am an Armed Forces Veteran and a Royalist. I have just retired from 40 yrs of truck driving after a serious accident which I was lucky enough to escape from. I am an easy going amiable guy. I am a caring, very tactile and loving sort of guy, probably even a soppy romantic. I have found that I am really missing that closeness of a companion, the hugs and cuddles. I love a good laugh and a good chat. I am 'old school' and hold to older values. I like to visit historical/heritage sites, and public gardens. I like tending to my garden and also just to sit on the patio with a drink and enjoy the garden and the little birds that visit my feeders. I like the countryside but these days it is more of a stroll than a walk, giving more time to appreciate the surroundings. I love listening to music, my passion being Country followed by Classical/Opera but can happily listen to most genres. I like to have lunch out, nothing fancy just good ol' pub food. I like to watch football and rugby. I enjoy a good film especially period dramas i.e. Jane Austen and similar and anything with either Colin Firth or Dame Judi Dench because everything they do is good. I also like sci-fi and fantasy like the Star Wars collection, The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings and similar. Flipping my coin I also like occasional trips to the theatre, either a ballet or live music show. I loved taking my eldest granddaughter to her first ballet and watching, how she became transfixed by the performance, almost trance-like. I prefer the beautiful countryside rather than the city. I still have so much of this wonderful country of ours that I have yet to see. Drop me a line, I don't bite.
About his ideal match
As I said I am an old fashioned guy so I like my lady to look like a lady, a touch of class (buy cheap, buy often whereas quality lasts). A casual look is fine in the right environment. As I am a small, slim guy I would prefer my partner to be of a similar stature, but I would not be daunted by my partner being a bit taller but not too much. I'd like them to have a GSOH as laughter is the best 'drug' around. Having some similar interests whereby we would have a certain amount of common ground to build something on. The ability to be flexible on matters would show a willingness to succeed in their endeavours. Please be committed to your reasons for being on here as I have encountered far too many 'time wasters' already, any relationship needs flexibility to succeed and there has to be an amount of give and take so please be genuine!
